Meghan Pearson

Meghan Pearson grew up with a love of art, first coloring in coloring books, then moving on to filling sketchbooks with pencil drawings. A Florida native, she studied at Ringling College (School) of Art and Design in Sarasota where traditional drawing and painting were her favorite subjects.

With her degree in Illustration and a love for handmade, sentimental items, she was chosen by Hallmark Cards for an internship in the summer of 2004. Prior to graduation the following year, she received a full-time position as a Line Designer/Art Director at American Greetings at their Cleveland, Ohio headquarters.

Upon moving back to Florida in 2009, she joined the faculty at the AutoNation Academy of Art + Design at the Museum of Art|Fort Lauderdale (now the NSU Art Museum) where she worked for four years, eventually becoming the Chair of Graphic Design.

In 2010, she started her own business, Yellow Pear Designs, to focus on freelance and contract work and currently runs a full-service design agency in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida area. Design and photography have since become her prevalent forms of creative expression, though she still enjoys the opportunity to draw and paint.

That love of drawing and painting, along with a yearning to share her passion with others, brought her back into art instruction in 2023. She has been enjoying her new studio and the opportunity to teach again!

    Graphic Designer: Create print/web collateral and marketing materials for clients such as the Boca Raton Museum of Art, Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, Apt 9F, Z Athletic, and Where the Wild Kids Play. Logo design, branding, and collateral for clients including American Greetings, Joann Fabrics, the University of Miami, Manfrotto and Cynosure.

    Illustrator: Custom illustrations for clients including Schurman Retail Group, Great Papers! and Jo-Ann Fabrics.

    Instructor: Teach art classes in a variety of subjects, including drawing, painting, and printmaking techniques. Teach classes in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Lightroom. Private and group classes in studio.

    Manager: Manage US Marketing Department for international jewelry company. Manage communications regarding marketing and design with the international marketing team, internal staff, sales reps, and customers.

    Designer: Act as Senior Graphic Designer. Develop and create all printed collateral for US and Canada—catalogs, specialty collateral, brochures, signage, print ads, billboards, web banners, social media images, and more.

    Other: Copywriter/Editor, Administrator, and Printing Coordinator. Manage all data for order forms, POS and website setup, barcode catalogs, etc. Manage all creative assets in organized manner.

    MUSEUM OF ART | FORT LAUDERDALE AUTONATION ACADEMY OF ART + DESIGN

    Chair of Graphic Design: Head of computer lab, teaching all computer program, digital illustration and design courses. Faculty: Teaching grades 1–4 and 5–8 as well as adult classes. Focus on drawing, design fundamentals and color using various media.

    Designer: Head graphic designer for printed collateral for the AutoNation Academy of Art + Design, as well as design for the Museum of Art | Fort Lauderdale.

    Other: Served as liaison between Faculty and Education Office.

    June 2005 – September 2009

    Art Director / Line Designer: Brainstormed content, provided art direction for illustrators, graphic designers, photographers by selecting appropriate subject matter, technique, color, type and layout for designs; manage small programs and available resources; worked collaboratively with studios when possible.

    Leadership: Team lead for market, trend and color research. Led creation of Hyper Pop-Up cards featuring lights, music/sound and paper pop-ups; worked with vendor to engineer, work within budget, and develop creative processes and workflow.

    Specialty Teams: Color Source Group, Creative Resource Development Team, Family Focus Design Team, and Music & Tech Team.

    Illustration:
    Worked side-by-side with mentor Karla Firehammer to learn her layered watercolor technique. Brainstormed content, developed cute icons and illustrated scenes for Christmas holiday cards.

  • Environmental & Sustainability Committee of Wilton Manors: Founding member and volunteer. Help to coordinate and run the annual Tree Giveaway events. Serve as lead for Nature in Art photo contest and Recycled Materials art contest. Coordinated and planned the first annual Wilton Manors Green Expo (cancelled due to Cover-19) to highlight eco-friendly products and services for our community.

    Island City Art Advisory Committee: Volunteer as a member. Co-lead on the utility box wrap project. Lead on selfie spot initiative.

    Wilton Art®: Served on the Board of Directors for Wilton Art®, a non-profit group dedicated to public art in the City of Wilton Manors. Created logo for Wilton Art® as well as much of the designed collateral through June 2022.
